Beyond the Gym: Why Leggings and Swimwear Shouldn’t Make You Self-Conscious

We have all been there. You find a cute pair of high-waisted leggings or a beautiful new swimsuit, you put them on, and then you look in the mirror. Instead of feeling confident, you find yourself tugging at the fabric or looking for a longer shirt to cover your “front” area.

If you feel like your “Mons Pubis” (that fatty area right above your pubic bone) is a bit too prominent, it can really affect your self-esteem. You might feel like everyone is looking, even though they probably aren’t!

We want you to know that having a little extra fullness in this area is very common, especially after life changes. But if it makes you hide under baggy clothes, there is a solution called Monsplasty.

What exactly is a Monsplasty?

Don’t let the name scare you! It is a very straightforward procedure. A Monsplasty is a way to reduce and tighten the “Mons” area. The mons pubis is a soft tissue which covers the pubic bone.

Sometimes, no matter how many miles you run or how many salads you eat, that one stubborn spot of fat just won’t go away. This is because that area is often influenced by hormones and genetics, not just diet.

Why does the Mons area get larger?

  • Weight Changes: Even after losing weight elsewhere, the mons can stay full.
  • Pregnancy and C-Sections: Surgery scars can sometimes cause the skin to hang or look puffy.
  • Aging: As we get older, skin loses its “snap” and can sag downward.

Is it just about looks?

While feeling good in a bikini or yoga pants is a great reason, many women choose this procedure for comfort too.

  • Exercise Comfort: A heavy or sagging mons can cause chafing or pulling during a workout.
  • Hygiene: Sometimes, excess skin can make it harder to keep the area dry and clean, leading to irritation.
  • Confidence in Intimacy: Feeling self-conscious about your shape can stop you from fully enjoying your private life.

How does the procedure work?

At  our clinic, we keep things  as simple and comfortable as possible. Depending on your body, there are two main ways we help:

  1. Liposuction: If the skin is still tight but there is just a “bulge” of fat, we can gently suction it away. This leaves almost no visible scar.
  2. Skin Removal: If there is a lot of loose, hanging skin (common after big weight loss), we carefully remove the extra skin and “lift” the area back up to where it used to be.

The recovery is usually much faster than people think. Most women are back to their normal daily routine in about a week, though you’ll want to skip the heavy gym sessions for about a month.

Why talk to Dr. Manvi about this?

It can feel a little awkward to talk about this part of your body. We get it! But at our clinic, we treat this just like any other health or confidence concern.

There is no “perfect” body type, but if a certain area of your body is making you feel shy or uncomfortable in your own skin, you deserve to explore your options. You should be able to wear your favorite leggings because you love how you feel, not because you’re trying to hide.

Stop Hiding and Start Living

You don’t have to spend another summer wrapped in a towel at the beach or wearing oversized t-shirts to the gym. A Monsplasty is a change that can make a huge difference in how you carry yourself.
